How To Improve Your Complexion?

We all deserve to feel comfortable and confident in our skin. Most of us already know that maintaining a good skincare regime is the key to having a clear, and radiant complexion all year round. But what if you’re still not noticing the results you’ve been wishing for? Look –I’ve been there. You put all your time and money into products that are meant to benefit your skin type, but you never end up with the luminous complexion been promised by the brands you have been using. Lucky for you, I am going to share some of my favorite skincare hacks that are going to help you improve your complexion quickly, and naturally.

Common Skin Problems

I think we often forget that our outside environment can cause our skin to react in different ways. Whether it’s stress, hormones, or a poor diet, everyone’s skin is different. When categorizing skin, we often hear the terms oily, dry, or combination. And organically, brands use these labels whilst promoting their products to target consumers. Nevertheless, we all must learn and practice natural remedies that are truly beneficial to the texture and overall complexion of our skin and save you money. I promise you these remedies will not only leave your skin radiant; they will also help improve your overall lifestyle leading you to a happy and healthy outcome.

Hydrotherapy

According to Dr Jason Derico, hydrotherapy is a form of treatment that “utilizes temperature varied water to direct healing in a certain way or to a specific part of the body.” In simple terms, submerging your body into differing temperatures of water along with Epsom salts or oatmeal has been proven to promote healing and be therapeutic for your skin barrier. For example, if you suffer from eczema, rather than applying an antibiotic or topical ointment, try bathing in a warm bath with colloidal oatmeal. As strange as it sounds, the bath can have “both antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects” that are overall soothing to your skin! Epsom salt baths on the other hand are effective in reducing pain by drawing out the toxins from your body. Epsom salts are very high in magnesium, replenishing your levels outside in. Run yourself a relaxing bath at least once a week.

When it comes to the Power of Minerals and the natural geothermal (hot springs water) you know I can talk about the benefits for ages and have done in “The Power of Minerals, Healing Spas of Europe.” You are welcome to purchase a copy from the website. When you have the chance, and we are out of lockdown, do visit your nearest geothermal complex, you will love it.

Monitor Your Stress Levels

We all know that life can be stressful at times. And it should come as no surprise that our skin is one of the most obvious places on our body that deteriorates under the strain of daily life. When we become stressed, our body releases a hormone called cortisol, which can cause our skin to become “oilier, and decrease its ability to fight off acne-causing bacteria.” One of the best ways to keep your stress levels at bay is to practice mindful activities such as meditation, yoga, and deep breathing. I understand that taking time for yourself can be hard –however, to maintain a happy and healthy lifestyle, as well as reduce fine lines, it is important to take care of yourself and make your health a top priority.

Another great way to reduce stress is to exercise daily. As we exercise, this increases blood circulation throughout your body which supplies your skin with nutrients and oxygen –ultimately improving your body’s overall production of collagen. For those of you who don’t know, collagen is a protein that is found in our body that is responsible for the overall structure of our skin. The more collagen we have, the more supple and smooth our skin is going to look and feel. Not to mention, as we sweat throughout our workout our body releases toxins that cause pore congestion, so gently cleansing your skin is vital.

Get a Good Night’s Sleep

One of the most obvious ways to improve your complexion overnight is to get a good night’s sleep. According to health experts, a poor night’s sleep is one of the common causes of paler skin, fine lines and wrinkles, and of course, dark undereye circles. Not to mention that a poor sleep schedule can also make you age faster! It’s important to understand is that our body repairs itself whilst we sleep. During this time, experts say that “your skin’s blood flow increases, and the organ rebuilds its collagen and repairs damage from UV exposure, reducing wrinkles and age spots.” Getting a full night’s rest is imperative to wake up with a luminous youthful complexion, as well as reduce the stress throughout your body.

Lymphatic Drainage Techniques

For those of you who are new here or can’t remember my lesson on the lymphatic system from a couple of months ago, not to worry—let’s do a little refresher. The lymphatic system is the body’s inner ‘drainage’ system that helps remove toxins and pathogens that are harmful to you. One of the best ways to promote lymphatic drainage is to dry brush exfoliate your body a couple of times a week. The massaging technique helps remove dead and dry skin cells –leaving your skin smooth and radiant, as well as help your organs function optimally.

Improve Your Diet

Did you know that certain foods can cause you to have uneven and blotchy complexions? By avoiding process foods such as those that are high in refined sugar, contain high grease contents, and foods that are heavy with dairy can help maintain an even complexion. Try filling your diet with lots of fruits and vegetables that contain high antioxidants and vitamins, as the best way to heal yourself is from the inside out.

Use Naturally Derived Products

Finally, always read the label what you are applying on your skin. Naturally derived products, full of nutrients will nourish your skin from outside in. Combine it with a healthy diet, supplements if and when needed and remember to hydrate, you can’t go wrong. X
